Materials Used:
- Simichrome Polish in a 1.76 ounce tube
- Microfiber cloth
- Nitrile Gloves
- Fuller Detail Brush
- Paper towels
Application:
1. Apply a dab of Simichrome to the finger tip of your nitrile glove about the size of a dime.
2. After applying the polish rub it evenly over the entire surface of the coat hook.
3. Use a Fuller detail brush to get into the tight areas and square openings of the casting.
4. As the brass is only plated onto the cast iron of this hook, rub gently so as not to damage the finish. Do Not use anything like steel wool on plated brass materials as you may take the finish off, especially if it is worn or damaged.
5. While the polish is still wet, remove all the Simichrome with a paper towel and buff to the desired sheen with a micro fiber cloth. As this is an antique piece, the idea is to just clean and polish the hook so that it looks good, not shine it to a brilliant mirror finish.

Episode #5 – How to Polish a Chrome Car Rim Using Flitz Polish & a Buff Ball
In this polishing tip we polish a Jeep wheel using Flitz Metal Polish and a Flitz BuffBall. The tutorial includes detailed work instructions and best practices.
Materials Used:
- Flitz Metal Polish in a 5.29 ounce (150 grm) tube
- Nitrile gloves
- Microfiber cloth
- Flitz Original Large 5″ BuffBall
Instructions and Application :
1. Apply Flitz Metal Polish directly from the tube to the finger tip of your nitrile glove.
2. Rub the polish on evenly over the surface you wish to polish and let sit for a couple of minutes.
3. Slowly run the Flitz BuffBall into the openings of the Jeep wheel. The ball will get right into the small openings and conform to the shape and polish the wheel.
3. Take a micro fiber cloth and rub off any remaining polish. Flip the cloth to a clean spot and buff to the desired sheen.
4. The Flitz polish leaves a thin film that will help protect the wheel from corrosion for months. To maintain, periodically wipe down with a microfiber cloth to restore the shine and wipe off brake dust as needed.
Polish Guy Tip : “Flitz polish is good to use on your cars aluminum or chrome trim. Flitz also safely removes tree sap, finger prints, bird droppings and bugs. It is non abrasive, non flamable and non toxic. “
The Flitz Buffball really takes the dudgery of polishing in tight spots on car wheels. Even small openings and spokes quickly shine. Much quicker than you would be able to detail a car or truck wheel by hand with a cloth. The Flitz Buffball easily fits on to any drill or air tool.
Polish Guy Tip : “The Flitz Original BuffBall won’t tear like foam buffs if it hits a sharp edge. The dirtier it gets the better it works as the polish gets worked well into the fingers of the ball. It buffs at speeds up to 2500 RPMs and will not burn or scorch surfaces. The BuffBall works equally well on textured or smooth surfaces. ”

Polish Guy Tip : “Autosol cuts down-time and increases machine run-time. It is the only mirror finish metal polish specially formulated for the plastics industry. “
Autosol polish is commonly used to polish thermoforming molds, injection molds, blow molding molds, extrusion dies, extrusion chill rolls, etc. Autosol has been made since 1929 and the manufacture claims that it lasts 4 times longer than other metal polishes.
Polish Guy Tip : “Autosol also restores the mirror finish on aluminum and hard chrome plated steel rollers. It is non toxic, environmentally friendly and has very low ammonia. High concentrations of ammonia can cause long term stress cracking in metals.”
